Here is the latest release of the NextGen gallery plug-in to Wordpress 2.0+. It contains some new checking function to disable the dupliacate images in the random widget.

It also has some new functions, to display recent, or random images directly from all themes.

Function names is:

nggDisplayRandomImages(numberofpictures,width,height);
nggDisplayRecentImages(numberofpictures,width,height);

Installation: copy the nggwidget.php to your nextgen gallery and that’s it.

My sidebar widget doesn’t seem to work for me.

Any ideas what I may be doing wrong. Seems to easy of an install so I think maybe an issue with my theme?

Maybe yes. At first you have to activate the sidebar plugin. If it’s activated you got a sidebar option in your admin area (at the Presentation menu). There you can activate every sidebar. If your theme is compatible whith the sidebar. If it’s not you have to opportunities. Download an other theme (this is the “easiest”). Edit your theme in the presentation menu. Use the 2 new functions where ever you want. More info in alex’s blog, or in the wp faq.

I love your widget! It’s way cool and I want to thank you for your hard work and dedication. I only have one question. When I mouse over it (including the one on your site), the “hand” cursor appears. Clicking does nothing. Is it supposed to link to something? Using Win XP with IE7. Thanks,

    Pam

It’s very inetersting … your browser support javascripts? because it’s a link and i’ve tested it with a lots of browsers, but I’ve not seen this error… Try whith firefox or any other browsers…. If the error is still exists maybe I have to recheck the code… :)

Ok…got it working. It was an issue with my theme.

    1. I have a couple of questions. Is there a way of removing the header where the tile goes without removing all my other sidebar headers.

    2. I notice that your images are centered in the within the sidebar. How did you do that?

    Thanks in advance.

Boondie: a köv. verzióban lesz galéria szűrési lehetőség.

elio: a) In the next version…. b) The css file which used by the whole plugin contains the widget styles… the widget div has to aligned to center…. that’s all…

zombie: i have no clue… are you useing the latest wp?

I´m using NextGen-Gallery on my site. My Theme doesn´t support widgets. Now I implemented it in the Sidebar without the use of widgets. How can I usw Lightbox, Thickbox or Highslide with it ???
    Thanx

    Robert

The javascript effects integration will be in the next version of the gallery (see Alex’s blog for more information). The Lightbox is avaliable for download (with installation instructions). You can find it whith google. That’s not a heavy one. (you have to add 3 lines into the header of your template).

I’m sorry, but I have no time to write a step by step instructions. Maybe next week…

    Hello, I have one problem.

I want to use RANDOM IMAGE WIDGET only with chosen galleries.

It is a website of one club. Sometimes we have striptiz and I really don’t want to put those pictures on the main page. That is why I want to use OPTION: SHOW - ONLY WHICH ARE LISTED.

Let say, I want to use galleries: 8, 14, 16
Is this right why to choose options:
    http://www.veseli-andrija.com/blog/wp-content/gallery/wordpress/nextgen_random.jpg

This what you can see on the image on link above is not working.

    What to change in code?
    I looked in nggwidget.php but I’m still learning so I couldn’t
    fix this.

    Help me, please.

P.S. This option isn’t working on recent image widget also.

Great widget! Is there any way to add a line of text or link below the slideshow display? I would like to link the slideshow widget element of my sidebar to another page.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have installed NextGen and everything is working fine for now, BUT…

IS IT POSSIBLE to make option for RANDOM IMAGE WIDGET that we can choose galleries from which images will be randomly taken?

I tried to change Random Image Widget in nggwidget.php to have option LIKE SLIDESHOW where we can choose just one gallery, but I didn’t succeed even that. I don’t think that would be a big problem but php is new for me so… I’m still learning.

Please, help me if you can…

    thx…

    Hi,

First off: thanks for the really great widget! It works perfectly. I just have a small question regarding description of the images. When I open up the pic from gallery I can see the title/description whereas opening up from the sidebar it doesn’t show anything just ‘image 1 of 6′. I found the code in nggwidget.php but being quite stupid to php I’ve no clue how to change. Line 231 says:
$Astart = ‘‘; I tried to put $imageID->description and other things as title=” . xxxx . ” but none of them worked. It’d be greatly appreciated if you could help. Thanks so much.
